Jesus knew things his parents did not know. Children can grow beyond their parent’s knowledge.
Luke 2: 50 “And they (Joseph and Mary) understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
Jesus was subject to his parents. Even though he had greater understanding, he followed their leadership.
Luke 2:51 “And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them….”
Jesus grew in emotionally, physically and spiritually. We might follow his example and grow in a balanced manner.
Luke 2:52 “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man.”
Jesus was baptized. We also can follow his example and participate in holy ordinances.
Matthew 3:13 “Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.”
Jesus was obedient. Obedience will strengthen us in following Jesus’ example.
Matthew 3: 14 “But John forbad him saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him.”
Jesus was the son of God. We also are God’s children and beloved of God.
Matthew 3:16-17 “ And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
