On waiting to be asked; when Jesus was asked to, he stayed longer.

John 4: 40 “So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.”
A lot of times I see something in someone else’s life that I think I know how to fix. I want to rush in and make things all better. This is not a bad impulse. Jesus’ example here is that he waited to be asked. I think waiting to be asked to help is respectful of others. Maybe they have plans for fixing their problems. Maybe they like things the way they are. So, I can follow Jesus’ example if I wait to be asked to help or if I just can’t wait, I can ask if they would like my help before I rush in and fix things.
