Temptation

Jesus followed the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Following the spirit in our decisions is Christ like.
Mark 1:12 “And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.”
Luke 4:1 “And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,”
Jesus was tempted. Jesus fasted. Jesus got hungry. These are part of the natural state of human beings, no need to feel shame. There is a need to control our actions as He showed us.
Luke 4: 2 “Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.”
Jesus used his knowledge of scripture to counter temptation. We can use the scriptures to guide our choices.
Luke 4:4 “And Jesus answered him (the devil), saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”
Jesus knew who He was. When the devil tempted him to prove his divinity Jesus was unmoved. When we know we are children of God, we can also be unmoved in the face of temptation.
