Jesus cast out an unclean spirit and rebuked it for telling who Jesus was.
Luke 4: 33-35 “And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. And Jesus rebuked him saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.” (Also Mark 1:24-28)
In this situation, Jesus is doing his work (helping another) and in the process, something He does not want to happen happens (the evil spirit discloses information). Then, Jesus pointedly disapproves of the evil spirit’s actions. I can follow Jesus’ example and pointedly disapprove of another’s actions when they disrupt the work I need to do. I can be prayerful in determining what my appropriate actions should be.
